For parents
How to set PrepAcer up, what your child will see, and how you follow their progress.
Getting started
- Sign up with your email and a password, and on the same form choose a username for your child and what they are revising: GCSE subjects, 11+ schools, or SATs (which includes every subject). The account is your child's.
- Confirm your email and log in. Your child never needs an email address.
- Your child logs in with the username (or your email) and the same password.
- Use the Account page to change subjects, the study plan length and the plan, and switch on a weekly progress email.
Each account is for one child and one module (GCSE, 11+ or SATs). For a second child or module, create another account with a different email. Try the sample questions first if you would like to see what practice looks like.
Choosing the right course
- GCSE: match the course to your child's exam board and code, for example AQA 8300 for Mathematics. Each course includes both Foundation and Higher content, so your child does not choose a tier. Ask the school which board and specification they follow.
- SATs: tick the subjects your child wants to practise for the Year 6 tests: maths, grammar, punctuation and spelling, and reading. Writing is assessed by the school, so it has no test to practise for.
- 11+: choose the entrance route for the schools you are applying to. Tests, stages and dates are set by each school or council and change each year, so always check the official admissions information.
The guides explain each test in plain language.
A realistic routine
- Ten to twenty minutes most days works better than one long session.
- Start with one topic at a time, then move to mixed practice.
- Read the explanation after every answer, then retry the Mistakes to retry list a few days later.
- Add timed practice mocks in the last few weeks, so exam conditions feel familiar.
Understanding progress
- Each topic is red, amber or green, with a label as well as a colour, so you can see what is secure and what needs work.
- As a parent you can see questions answered, scores and the last day your child practised.
- You can switch on an optional weekly progress email from your account. It is off until you turn it on.
- Activity is not the same as understanding. Look at how your child does on new questions after retrying their mistakes.
Safety and data
- For your child we only keep a username you choose. We collect as little as we can.
- No adverts, nothing sold, and no analytics or tracking cookies.
- 11+ and SATs have no chat. On GCSE, Group Challenge chat is private to an invited squad, uses nicknames, blocks links, emails and phone numbers, and is deleted when the challenge ends.
See the Privacy Notice for the full detail.
Plans and payments
- Every plan is a single payment for 3, 6 or 12 months. It never renews by itself, so there is nothing to cancel. When it ends, your child keeps the free sample.
- A plan is for one account, which is one child in one module. Each child's account has its own plan.
- The free plan includes 10 sample questions in each subject or route.
- AI credits pay for AI marking of written answers (and the tutor on GCSE). If credits run out, your child can mark their own answers until they reset.
Plans are not refundable once access starts, so try the free sample questions first. Your legal rights if something is faulty are not affected; see our Refund Policy.
Marks you disagree with
AI marking can make mistakes. Every AI-marked answer shows the mark points it used and has an βI think this is wrongβ button, so your child always has the last word.
